The End Of An Era … and On To The Next
We purchased 64 Bridge Street In February of 1991 and thus began a fantastic journey stretching over the next 34 plus years. That particular journey ended when we closed on the sale of our building last month on August 14th. During a quick break to celebrate the sale closing, we posted a newsletter to our mailing list announcing that our last night of in-restaurant dining had been August 13th and that, after our break, we would return to close down operations at 64 Bridge Street (our restaurant and home) over the next couple of months. In the wake of that newsletter posting we received 100’s of warm best wishes for our future, and countless shared memories of past times spent in our restaurant, that we just haven’t had enough time to express our sincerest thanks for. During that time we also continued to receive multiple daily requests to join our mailing list for access to future reservation availability - which led us to the realization that we still needed to post the news of the sale and restaurant closing to our website and social media presence. So here goes:
With deepest appreciation for the dedication and support we have received over the last 34 years, The Bridge Street Bistrot and Wine Bar is now Permanently Closed.
Some of you may be wondering why we have gone “radio silent” since our last newsletter, and now is the time to fill you in on the details. After over 34 years of creating and re-creating in our home and business at 64 Bridge Street (shoutout to Cafe Mirabelle, The Crêperie and The Bridge Street Bistrot and Wine Bar), we have sold our building. Wednesday, August 13th was our final in-restaurant dinner night. After taking a little break, we will be back for the next few months to wind down operations in the building and to prepare for the next chapter in our lives.
We decided not to announce earlier, or to do a big “final dinner”, because this doesn’t mean this is the end of you allowing us to #LetStephanCookForYou … just another pivot. As anyone who followed us through the Covid period remembers, we constantly came up with different options in presenting Stephan’s particular brand of Country French Cuisine to be enjoyed out of the restaurant, and we will be continuing to explore those and many more possibilities.
While there is so much more to say and reflect on, primarily, we can’t thank you all enough for really embracing the post-Covid modeling of our “small chef-owned corner cafe” aka “Bistrot”. Our Mailing list grew from around 300 subscribers at the beginning of 2020 to over 4000 in the space of the last 5 years (with over 575 newsletters sent during that time!) and the speed in which reservations for each menu offering filled definitely made us feel the love.
At this point, we leave you with a couple of options. If your interest in joining our mailing list was simply to enjoy dining in our home-like 64 Bridge Street dining rooms, you can feel free to unsubscribe from our mailing list - no hard feelings, we loved hanging out there on our days off too! Alternatively, if you want to hang on and see what our next dining adventures will be, there is nothing you need to do. Our promise is that we will never sell our mailing list, and in the future we will use it as our primary means of directly communicating with you to let you know what’s up.
Thank You for supporting us on the wild ride we have been on since 1991 - and especially over the past 5 years. We are looking forward to meeting up at a new fork the road, and having you join us in discovering a new direction.
With gratitude and very full hearts,
*See You Soon!
Chris and Stephan
